Most “what celebrities smell like” lists are guesswork. This one only includes perfumes a celebrity named herself, in an interview, or that a brand announced she fronts. Every price was checked on a brand or US retailer page in October 2026, along with cheaper inspired-by alternatives that share key listed notes.

Quick answer

Five celebrity perfumes are backed by on-record sources: Le Labo Santal 33 (Jenna Ortega), Byredo Gypsy Water (Kate Bosworth), Chloé fragrance (version unspecified; assumed signature EDP) — Ashley Graham, Armani My Way (Sydney Sweeney, the paid face of the fragrance) and YSL Libre (Dua Lipa, the paid face of the line). Among the four with confirmed size-specific prices, listed prices run $1.93–$3.30/ml; Santal 33 is excluded. Inspired-by alternatives from Dossier and ALT. Fragrances cost about $0.48–$1.30 per ml.

  • Largest listed percentage saving: ALT. Liberty ($0.48/ml) vs YSL Libre ($3.00/ml), about 84% less per ml.
  • Some of these sources are old (2014–2023), and people change perfumes. We give the year for each.
  • A dupe has a similar profile based on its listed notes. It is not the same formula, and it won’t smell exactly like the original.

How we picked these (and what we left out)

We kept a perfume only if we could open a source where the celebrity named it: an interview quote, her own post or video, or a brand announcement. Paid relationships are labeled, and we put other mentions first. This guide is researched, not a hands-on review. The comparisons below are based on the notes each brand publishes, so expect differences in how long a scent lasts and how strong it is.

Three popular “celebrity scent” stories didn’t qualify:

  • Rihanna and Kilian Love, Don’t Be Shy. The perfume was named in a 2016 clip by a friend of hers, not by Rihanna. The Forty-Five (2022) notes that Rihanna had not confirmed Love, Don’t Be Shy herself.
  • Taylor Swift and Tom Ford. At the 2024 VMAs she mouthed “Tom Ford” when asked about her scent, but she didn’t name a specific perfume (Biography, 2024). The often-cited Santal Blush is fan speculation.
  • Olivia Rodrigo and Baccarat Rouge 540. Many blogs say she told British Vogue she wears it, but we couldn’t find the original interview, so we left it out.

Prices are list prices, checked Oct 2026, from the brand or retailer pages linked in Sources. Sales and prices change. Ulta lists sizes in ounces. We converted to the standard ml sizes (1.7 oz ≈ 50ml, 3.0 oz ≈ 90ml).

1. Jenna Ortega: Le Labo Santal 33

The source: In a 2021 interview, Ortega told Coveteur (2021): “I got Le Labo Santal 33 for my birthday a couple of years ago, and it’s been my signature scent ever since.” The source does not identify this as a paid partnership. She has since become one of the faces of Dior’s Gris Dior campaign (Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, 2023), which is a paid brand relationship. A 2025 report from Index.hr (2025), summarizing a Who What Wear interview, says she wore Santal 33 for a long time but had recently switched. Treat this as a past favorite, not her current one.

The perfume: According to Le Labo and Nordstrom, Santal 33 is built on Australian sandalwood and cedarwood, with cardamom, iris, violet and spicy, musky notes. Nordstrom lists it at $113–$348 depending on size. We couldn’t confirm the price of each individual size, so we don’t give a per-ml figure.

Cheaper alternatives:

  • Dossier Woody Sandalwood: $49/50ml ($0.98/ml) or $79/100ml ($0.79/ml). Dossier says it was inspired by Santal 33. Its listed notes include violet leaves, cardamom, orris (iris), cedarwood and sandalwood, which covers most of what Le Labo lists.
  • ALT. Simply Santal: $49/60ml ($0.82/ml) or $69/100ml ($0.69/ml). This is an extrait-strength version inspired by Santal 33. It lists sandalwood, papyrus, leather, cedar, violet, iris and amber. That gives it the same sandalwood, cedar, iris and violet core.

2. Kate Bosworth: Byredo Gypsy Water

The source: “In terms of fragrance, I’m really loyal to Byredo Gypsy Water,” Bosworth told Into the Gloss (2014), adding, “I’m a loyalist with my scents.” The source does not identify this as a paid partnership. The interview is more than a decade old, though, so her routine may well have changed.

The perfume: According to Byredo, the top notes are bergamot, juniper berries, lemon and pepper, the heart is incense, orris and pine needle, and the base is amber, sandalwood and vanilla. The 100ml is $330 on Byredo’s US site ($3.30/ml).

Cheaper alternative: ALT. Bohemian Water: $39/30ml ($1.30/ml) or $49/60ml ($0.82/ml). ALT. says it was inspired by Gypsy Water and describes a lemon opening that settles into creamy sandalwood. Both are main notes of Gypsy Water. It suits you if you like the soft, woody drydown more than the opening.

3. Ashley Graham: Chloé fragrance (version unspecified; assumed signature EDP)

The source: In a 2017 “what’s in my makeup bag” feature, Graham told E! News (2017): “I cannot live without my Chloe perfume.” The source does not identify this as a paid partnership. The feature doesn’t name the version, so we’ve assumed the signature Eau de Parfum.

The perfume: Chloé lists peony on top, rose petals and magnolia in the heart, and cedar and ambergris in the base. It’s $150 for 50ml ($3.00/ml) or $178 for 75ml ($2.37/ml) on chloe.com.

Cheaper alternative: Dossier Floral Peony: $32/50ml ($0.64/ml). Dossier says it was inspired by Chloé’s signature scent. Its listed notes are peony, lychee and lily, then rose, magnolia and freesia, then musk, cedarwood and honey. That matches Chloé’s peony, rose, magnolia and cedar core. Dossier adds lychee in the top and honey in the base, so it may read sweeter based on the listed notes.

Worth it?

If you’ve already worn the original and love it, the original is the safer buy, because an inspired-by version can differ in how long it lasts and how it develops on skin. If you’re curious about a celebrity’s scent but don’t want to pay $140–$330, these alternatives are a cheap way to find out whether you like that scent family. Try a sample of the original at a counter before you commit either way.

4. Sydney Sweeney: Armani My Way (paid face)

The source: This is a paid relationship. Armani Beauty named Sweeney the face of My Way in January 2023, and she said on Instagram, as reported by Cosmetics Business (2023): “I could not be more excited and proud to be the new face of Armani Beauty perfume My Way.” Treat this as a brand partnership, not an independent recommendation.

The perfume: Ulta lists bergamot and orange blossom, then tuberose and jasmine, then cedarwood, vanilla and white musks. It’s $140 for 50ml ($2.80/ml) or $174 for 90ml ($1.93/ml) at list price.

Cheaper alternative: Dossier Fruity Neroli: $29/50ml ($0.58/ml). Dossier says it was inspired by My Way. Its listed notes repeat nearly the whole pyramid: bergamot, tuberose, jasmine, orange blossom, vanilla, musks and cedarwood. It adds neroli, blackcurrant and strawberry at the top, so it will likely open fruitier. Of the five pairs here, its listed notes overlap most with the original’s.

5. Dua Lipa: YSL Libre (paid face)

The source: This is also a paid relationship. Lipa has been the face of YSL Libre since 2019. In a 2023 interview with Nylon (2023) promoting the line, she said, “I wear a little something every day!” She said the newer Libre L’Absolu Platine had “quickly become the fragrance I reach for most.” The alternatives below are modeled on the original Libre Eau de Parfum, not on L’Absolu Platine.

The perfume: Ulta lists Libre EDP as lavender, then orange blossom, then a musk accord and vanilla. It’s $150 for 50ml ($3.00/ml) or $185 for 90ml ($2.06/ml).

Cheaper alternatives:

  • Dossier Floral Lavender: $29/50ml ($0.58/ml). Dossier says it was inspired by Libre. It lists lavender, orange blossom, vanilla and musk, which are all four of Libre’s key notes, plus mandarin, neroli, blackcurrant, jasmine and amber.
  • ALT. Liberty: $29/60ml ($0.48/ml). ALT. says it was inspired by Libre and describes lavender, white florals and vanilla. That’s the same lavender-and-vanilla core, although ALT. publishes less note detail.

How to shop celebrity perfume dupes without regret

  • Compare price per ml, not bottle price. A $39 30ml bottle ($1.30/ml) can cost more per ml than a $49 60ml bottle ($0.82/ml).
  • Match the notes you actually like. If you love Santal 33 for the sandalwood and cedar, check that the alternative lists those notes. Don’t rely on the “inspired by” label alone.
  • Expect differences. Concentration, longevity and how a scent develops on skin vary, even when the notes overlap. Brand claims about how long a perfume lasts are marketing.
  • Use return policies. Dossier lists a return policy. Members get a free return. Non-members pay a $3.99 return fee per bottle (checked Oct 2026).

FAQ

Are celebrity perfume dupes the same as the original?

No. Dupes like Dossier and ALT. Fragrances say they’re “inspired by” a designer scent and list similar notes, but they’re separate formulas. Expect a similar profile, not an identical smell or the same longevity.

What perfume does Jenna Ortega wear?

She told Coveteur in 2021 that Le Labo Santal 33 had been her signature scent since she got it as a birthday gift. A 2025 report says she had since switched, and she has worked with Dior on Gris Dior, so her current scent may differ.

Is Sydney Sweeney paid to promote Armani My Way?

Yes. Armani Beauty named her the face of My Way in January 2023, so it’s a paid brand partnership, not an independent pick.

What perfume does Rihanna wear?

Rihanna has not confirmed Love, Don’t Be Shy on record. A friend named it in a 2016 clip, so we didn’t include it as a verified pick.

Which celebrity perfume dupe has the largest listed percentage saving?

Based on the prices we checked in October 2026, ALT. Liberty ($0.48/ml) vs YSL Libre ($3.00/ml 50ml list price), about 84% less per ml.
